A Window Seat and a Cozy Plaid Blanket
Published May 12, 2026

Mocha's first in-cabin flight came with a window seat and a plaid blanket, and she behaved like she'd been flying for years.
The setup
A soft-sided carrier under the seat, a familiar blanket inside, and a light meal four hours before boarding. Mocha weighed in at just under the cabin limit with her carrier.
Small details that mattered
- A blanket from home, not a new one. Scent does the heavy lifting.
- A pre-flight walk long enough to make the flight feel like nap time.
- A window seat, which gives slightly more foot space and fewer people brushing past the carrier.
Cabin etiquette
Keep the carrier closed and under the seat for the whole flight, including taxi and boarding. If your pet needs reassurance, rest your hand on the mesh rather than opening the zip. Bring an absorbent pad and a spare in case of an accident, plus a small bag for cleanup.
Result
One tongue-out, thoroughly relaxed poodle and a very proud owner.
