Shiba Inu Takes to the Skies

Backpack on, tarmac in view, ears forward. Kenzo the Shiba Inu looked more curious than nervous about his first flight — which is exactly what weeks of preparation should produce.
Shibas are their own case
They are independent, sensitive to restraint, and notorious escape artists. Two things matter more than anything: a genuinely secure crate and slow, patient conditioning.
Our prep plan
- Week 1–2: crate open at home, meals served inside, no door.
- Week 3: door closed for short periods, then longer, with the family in the room.
- Week 4: car trips in the crate, then a visit to a busy outdoor area.
- Departure week: crate becomes the sleeping spot.
Security details
We use metal bolts rather than plastic clips on the crate door, cable-tie all four corners, and label the crate with LIVE ANIMAL markings, arrows, feeding instructions, and two contact numbers.

Kenzo walked into his crate on his own. He was more interested in watching the ground crew than worrying about the noise.
