Domestic pet travel across the Philippines changed in a few meaningful ways this year. Here's what pet parents need to know.
Airline rule updates
Cabin pet slots remain limited per flight and are now released earlier in the booking window, which means popular routes fill faster. Cargo bookings on narrow-body aircraft are also being capped more tightly during peak season.
New and expanded routes
Additional island connections have made it easier to move pets to and from Palawan, Siargao, and Bohol without an overnight stop in Manila or Cebu.
Shipping permits
A shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry is still required for inter-island animal movement. Processing has moved further online, but we still recommend applying at least a week ahead.
Refreshed pricing
Fuel and handling surcharges have shifted domestic rates. Every quote sets out exactly which services it covers — permit processing, crate or carrier, airport handling, transfers — so there are no surprise line items on departure day.
Practical advice
Book the pet before you book yourself, fly early morning to avoid heat embargoes, and never plan a same-day onward connection on a different airline.
