Why the crew matters more than you think
On in-cabin flights, the cabin crew decide how much flexibility you get: whether you can reposition the carrier during cruise, whether you get a quieter seat, whether a nervous animal gets a little extra patience during boarding. On cargo flights, the loading team and the flight deck are the people who confirm that the hold heating is on and that your pet is aboard.
How to make it easy for them
- Tell the crew at boarding that you have a pet on board and where it is
- Keep the carrier fully closed unless a crew member says otherwise
- Have your documents accessible, not buried in a checked bag
- Clean up immediately and quietly if there's an accident
- Say thank you — genuinely
